During her appearance on Good Morning America, the style expert spoke to presenter Lara Spencer about the versatile piece of fabric.

The first tip she gave viewers was buying a sarong, as she explained that the shape should be rectangular rather than square so you can “maneuver the sarong in a lot of different ways.”

Lori then revealed the first model to wear a jumpsuit-style sarong.

“You want to keep that [the sarong] Tie it vertically around your top, then pick up the long pieces of fabric and thread it through your legs before wrapping it around your waist to secure it in your front,” she said.

Lori admitted this particular look was more suited to a trip to the beach, but said wear a swimsuit underneath for more protection.

The next model wore the sarong as a halter sundress, which Lori said was “so easy.”

A video of her showing the fabric being first wrapped around her waist before pulling up two long straps to tie it around her neck.

Lori said, “That’s the thing too, these looks take like 10 seconds.”

A third model wore the sarong as a skirt, which Lori says was a look for a “sunset cocktail” event.

She explained that while this could be done as a beach look, this way of wearing the skirt was “high” fashion.

“We put on the white shirt, unbuttoned the collar and added some gold accessories,” she described. “Again, simplicity, then you can wrap it around your waist and sort of pull the knot where it fits your body.”

The final look was intended for a “big night out on the town” where a model wore the sarong as a strapless top.

Lori said, “It’s important to wrap it like a bandage, and that requires an additional accessory: a handy safety pin.”

“This is to ensure it’s secure both in the back and in the front so there’s no malfunction in our wardrobe.

Sarongs are available from Amazon, Boohoo, Missguided, Sports Direct and New Look for just £5.

With so much choice in what to pack for a vacation abroad, a sarong that creates multiple looks without taking up too much space in your suitcase is a must.
