In the clip, she recalled feeling “anxious” before changing the oil because she would overpay.

Because most car owners are unaware of the cost of many types of maintenance, it’s possible that less reputable mechanics are increasing their profit margins at the expense of customers.

However, now Erin has presented a handy trick you can use to make sure you never fall victim to inflated prices.

It turns out that there are a number of sites where you can enter your car’s details and find out the average price for a number of services in your area.

These are usually chain store websites (Jiffy Lube in Erin’s case) that can tell you the prices at each location.

Erin explained, “You can put in the make and model of your car and the location you want to go to, and then select the service you want.”

“On site you will find out exactly how much you have to pay.

“So you’ll never be cheated.”

social media Commentators were amazed by the advice.

One wrote: “I didn’t know that.

“I paid $160…last time.”

Another added: “It’s cool that they do this and you shared it.”

Helpful tips from others included bringing your own oil and oil filter to the workshop, among other things, so you only have to pay for the labor cost.

This is after a skilled mechanic spotted the tiny component that can completely ruin your electric car.

Meanwhile, another TikToker demonstrated a little-known feature that washes your headlights.
