I’m a female welder – guys say I ‘distract’ them from their work but that’s not my problem

A “BEAUTIFUL” welder hits back at her critics in the workplace.
TikToker Weldherkat says she’s earning her place in the workshop every day and won’t be moving anytime soon.

She is one of the few women in a traditionally male-dominated industry.
But she is accused of being a distraction in the workshop because of her beauty.
In her latest video, she demonstrates the prejudices she encounters.
Staring at the camera, the caption reads, “Women in trades are distracting.”

However, she cannot be distracted.
In the next shot, attention is pinned as Weldherkat, clad in head-to-toe safety gear, prepares to enter a weld.
She is confident, confident and eager to show off her skills.
But she doesn’t want to give up her femininity just because she works in a manual trade.
Her waist-length platinum blonde hair and clear blue eyes are hidden behind safety gear when on the counter.
She is a trailblazer for young women considering entering the workforce.

Comments on her section were a mix of awe and a minority admitting they would definitely be distracted.
“I couldn’t have a woman around who looks like you. 80 percent of men would be worthless because they care more about you than their job,” is a typical comment.
Followed by: “God knows if you were welding at one of my jobs I could just focus on you. Sexy!”
However, many more gave her the thumbs up.
“Well done. Keep going. Strong women can do anything,” said one.

“Not your fault for being beautiful,” argued another.
More praise: “Proud of you and you’re a great welder.”

“Women in crafts are not a distraction. They’re also just trying to make a living,” was a reasonable reply.
Finally, a reminder: women have been doing jobs for decades: “Women have been doing everything for centuries, women from World War II built ships, tanks, airplanes and had families. Nice weld. Godd bless you.”
