I’m a gardener – my easy drug store trick will stop insects from breeding in your plants

Houseplants can be the perfect element to brighten up your kitchen, living room or bedroom, but sometimes they create breeding grounds for little bugs.
A TikToker found the easiest trick to get rid of unwanted pests, and it only requires one ingredient.
New York-based “plant mother” Kaitlin (@roominbloomnyc) recently shared There is a simple trick on the video platform for keeping your home bug-free.
All plant owners need is hydrogen peroxide.
Before doing anything, Kaitlin says it’s important to find out which plant has become the temporary home for one or more mosquitoes.
Then, for best results, wait until the plant is ready to water.

“All you need is water and some plain old drugstore hydrogen peroxide,” the TikToker said in the video.
Kailtin said she usually makes a mixture of one part hydrogen peroxide and five parts water, then waters the plant as usual.
“This not only kills the mosquitoes in the ground, but also their nasty eggs,” she said.
In the comments section below the video, the self-proclaimed plant parent revealed that the trick works best when you water the plants from the top of the pot.
“But it wouldn’t hurt if you tried sub-irrigation either,” she said.
Additionally, Kaitlin emphasized that waiting until the “last possible minute to water” the plant increases the chances of the tricks succeeding.
This trick is best used on plants that are infested with mosquitoes.
Plants with other pests like mealy bugs may need to be treated with other products like neem oil, Kaitlin revealed in a comment below the video.
If using the mix isn’t working for your plant, there may be a larger problem that needs to be addressed.
Kaitlin suggested to a plant owner that repotting could also help get rid of a mosquito infestation.
The New York-based content creator has uploaded planting and pottery videos to TikTok since January.
Since then, she has accumulated over 460,400 followers and more than 14,600,000 likes on the platform.
