But TikTok users @scottykilmerofficial Insisted that you don’t need to spend hundreds of dollars on this electronic tool as most garages wouldn’t charge you to use it.

He says: “In this case it is P0 46. What does that mean? It’s a pollution control thing.”

“Sometimes there is a broken fuel cap, but in this case the fuel cap has already been replaced. It’s been on for months and it’s running perfectly.”

The mechanic warned drivers that there is a serious problem with your vehicle when the light goes on and off.

Scotty continues, “But in this case, I’ve had people ride them that way for years.

“Now my clients want me to find out, so I get my smoke machine, light up some smoke, and find the leak.”

“But if you had that, you could live with it for years, as long as you don’t need it for some emissions test.”

The video went viral on TikTok with more than 122,100 views – and users were quick to comment below.

One said: “Nice to see you on TikTok Scott. I love your videos on YouTube. I learned so much and they are very helpful.”

He replied, “Thank you.”

Another said: “Thank you Scotty.”

While a third pointed out: “This is exactly the problem I’m having with my car.”

This comes after a driver was horrified after a stranger scrawled a rude message on his car, but people are divided.

Plus, motorists were stunned to realize that a 50p household item they already own can make their car shine in seconds.
