I’m a physio and you’ve been pooing all wrong – here’s the 6 best ways and why you might moo like a cow

Going to number two is a normal occurrence for everyone.
But one expert has warned you may have it all wrong.

On TikTok, Physio George said if you’re struggling with constipation, you need to try new techniques that might help you loosen up.
The NHS says constipation is common and affects people of all ages, with lifestyle and diet changes often treating the condition.
Physio George explained that there are things you can do when you’re actually on the toilet that can help.
The six techniques are:
- do a squat
- feet up
- Lean forwards
- Relax
- breathe and moo
- avoid exertion
Posting at wellness brand Bien Aus, George explained that the first thing you need to do is change your position on the loo.
She said you have to do a squat for this, and in the video demonstrate how to sit on the loo.
Rather than just drop to the floor, George had her legs wide open and her feet flat on the floor.
Then she bent her knees as if to squat and lowered herself.
The second thing to do, she said, is put your feet on a toilet stool, rolls, or toilet paper.
Baz Moffat, a pelvic floor and core strength specialist, previously said that our bodies are designed to have the perfect bowel movement when our knees are over our hips.
Next she said you should lean forward before then relaxing your stomach.
She added that you should try not to tighten your abs during this time.
Then she told you to take deep belly breaths and “moo like a cow.”
Finally, she said not to try and try too hard.
NORMAL FOR YOU
When it comes to going for the number two, a lot of people aren’t really sure what is normal.
Depending on your diet, age, and level of activity, regularity can mean anything from three bowel movements a day to three bowel movements a week.
However, it is crucial to keep an eye on what is “normal” for you and to be aware of the signs and symptoms of colon cancer.
The NHS says the five warning signs of bowel cancer are:

- Bleeding from the posterior passage or blood in your stool
- A change in your normal toilet habits – for example, walking more often
- Pain or a lump in your abdomen
- Extreme tiredness
- lose weight
If you notice changes in your usual habits, don’t be embarrassed, talk to your GP.
