The self-proclaimed “certified big girl,” Emma Arletta, shared the clues in one of her latest videos.
Many of Arletta’s fans are too scared to even set foot in a gym.
“Trust me, I understand,” the model said in the video. “It’s intimidating to walk into a place that feels like it wasn’t made for you.”
Arletta’s first big tip was to cover up.

“I’m not most comfortable in the gym when I’m honestly showing a lot of skin,” she said.
The many mirrors that surround many fitness facilities leave Arletta prone to “self-hate talk,” which she’s happy to nip in the bud.
“I don’t think that’s a bad thing,” the model said of her modest outfit choices.
“If I’m wearing something comfortable that gets me to the gym, that’s all that matters.”

For beginners, Arletta said, it’s also a good idea to start with the basics.
Aspiring gym rats should pick a cardio machine to use during their early workouts.
“Maybe the first time you go to the gym, you literally only go for 30 minutes,” Arletta said. “But that’s an achievement. It’s a tall order to get into a gym and onto a machine.”
This tip is twofold. Because the treadmills and elliptical machines often face the weight area, Arletta said it’s a good tactic for learning how to use these machines by observation.
Her post seems to have inspired some of the model’s followers.
“Tomorrow I’m going to the gym for the first time in probably eight years,” said one commenter.
“Excited for you!” replied Arletta.
Others shared their own stories of overcoming exercise anxiety.
“I just went to the gym and literally sat in the parking lot for 30 minutes and was about to say do it and go shopping but I wasn’t working out!” said another commenter.
“Yeah, I was waiting in the parking lot too!!” Arletta answered.
Another commenter shared his own tip for avoiding the jitters.

“I have to go either super early in the morning or super late at night because my anxiety gets so bad when there are a lot of people around,” they said.
“Yes, time counts!” replied Arletta. “If no machines are open, it’s like, okay, now what?”
