TikTokker @royalfamilyslife suggested avoiding awkward moments as it discourages people from constantly trying to shake hands with the Princess of Wales.

This is just one of many regular updates and theories the fan page shares with its 75,700 followers about the royal family.

In a new role, the content creator said: “There’s a reason Princess Kate is holding her bag in front of her with both hands.

“It’s not just a fashion statement like most people think.

“The real reason goes much deeper.

“Queen Elizabeth had also used this tactic many times.

“Princess Kate uses it to avoid awkward moments.

“According to William Hanson, it is protocol that you do not shake hands with any member of the royal family unless his hand is extended first.

“That’s why Princess Kate feels the need to select a bag that will disable both of her hands.”

The royal revelation garnered a lot of attention online, garnering more than 34,500 likes and 3.2 million views.

In the comments, TikTokker shared their thoughts, with one writing: “Makes too much sense to me. I don’t want everyone touching my hands.”

‘I met the Duke of Edinburgh once. He was holding a glass of water in one hand and the other arm behind his back to indicate no handshake,” shared another.

A third added: “Kate looks so elegant.”

Someone else suggested: “They’re moving it for code too. So when it’s moved to an agreed position, it signals her to apologize and leave.”

While not everyone agreed, another added: “This rule applies to any gentleman meeting a lady. She decides if she wants to shake hands.”

“She doesn’t want to let go of the gold she’s been digging for all these years,” said another.
