Skin care expert and MD of SQT Bio-Microneedling Ashley Wady shares that the secret lies in the lymphatic system.

Facial massage has become popular with many influential beauty gurus such as Arwa Khudhur (@arwaakhu) continues the trend videotapes platforms like TikTok.

“Lymphatic drainage massage can help reduce puffiness and fluid retention while increasing circulation and blood flow around the eye area,” she says.

“It’s great for removing toxins and keeping your skin cells healthy.

“Increased blood flow can also result in a more vibrant and radiant appearance,” she says.

The skin care expert also added another technique that can improve overall health.

“Another technique called Effleurage is used to aid relaxation, reduce stress, increase blood flow and stimulate muscles.

“It is performed by massaging in an upward motion with long stroking motions and is a great technique that can help especially with lymphatic drainage,” she adds.

Ashley cautions that while lymphatic drainage can be a game-changer for many people, it’s not right for everyone.

“Lymphatic drainage is beneficial for the area around the eyes, but keep in mind that it is not for all skin types.

“If you are suffering from acne or have acne-prone skin, it can cause more sebum so be cautious,” she advises.

She recommends lymphatic drainage massage as a way to complement other skin care treatments.

“Facial massage combined with therapy can also have a powerful effect on smoothing fine lines and wrinkles.

“Plus, it can help reduce stress and help you feel more relaxed overall,” she says.
