I’m a stylist and ban three types of top from women’s wardrobe – they’re so old-fashioned it’s embarrassing

TRENDS come and go and what was once a must have in your wardrobe is now something we shy away from.
And with the colder season already in full swing, most of us have swapped out our sundresses for more weather-appropriate, long-sleeved tops.
But according to one stylist, it’s important to choose wisely when stocking up on your fall/winter wardrobe.
Uncover the biggest fashion faux pas, Caitlin Jaymes said that there are three tops she gets rid of when working on someone’s closet.
“Even for my clients who have a boho style, I would never recommend this off the shoulder bell sleeve top.”
“Especially the ones that used to be very tight on the sleeve and then extra accentuated on the bell sleeve.”
“I just think there are so many better options.”
Those who live and breathe all things fashion will know how crazy we were about peplum tops a few years ago – and Caitlin thinks they should stay here.
“Depending on your body shape, that style of peplum or wrap-tie top can sometimes be very flattering.”
“But it feels very dated.” “They usually come in patterns that are completely dated, so let’s move on to something better.”
Last in the video were the so-called cold-shoulder tops that were a hit a few seasons ago.
But whether it’s in a sweater or top, the style pro insisted the style was “very dated.”

But despite her advice, she also reminded fashion lovers to dress however they want.
“Keep wearing what gives you confidence.”
What other fall trends should you avoid this season?
Luckily, YouTuber Shea Whitney was also there to show how to update the looks in seconds and make them stylish again.
First, the fashionista said waterfall cardigans should be kept at the back of the closet.
Explaining that they looked “pretty dated,” she continued, “If you have them in your closet, I’m not saying you need to throw them away or donate them, but I think there are a lot more modern, stylish options out there.”
She then showed that a chunky knit with a square edge is the much better option.
Shea then turned to cowl neck sweaters, which are often considered perfect for fall.
She continued, “Another trend that’s hot for 2022 is round toe ankle boots.
“I speak of round toes when the boot is shorter. Open boots, also not a fan.
“Also, I think if the boot has a very strong contrast – for example, if the boot is a lighter brown but the heel is awesome, dark black, then I think that looks a bit dated too.”
Instead, Shea recommends investing in a pointed style because it “elongates your legs and looks more modern.”
Fourth on her list was a very specific combination – skinny jeans with flats.
Shea said, “I think while this looks dated, there are still really good ways to wear skinny jeans.”
She said they look much more fashionable when paired with chunkier or knee-high heeled boots or just a classic pair of heels or sneakers.
The fifth – and perhaps one of the most surprising – entries was Shea saying that animal print could well be available this season.
She continued, “I really like leopard print, I think it’s classy, but is it time to look away?” Maybe.”
Shea then said it’s because there are a lot of bad animal prints on the market, including a dark little pattern. She said a larger, lighter animal print was much better of both.

Other fashion items that made Shea’s list of fashion sins included riding boots, long pendant necklaces, and infinity scarves.
V-neck t-shirts and t-shirt dresses are the other two items Shea highlighted as things not to watch in the coming months.
