I’m an airline pilot – here’s where your poo goes when you flush it

AN AIRLINE pilot has answered the question that plagues many passengers – what really happens when you flush the toilet on an airplane?
The pilot took to TikTok to dispel the myths about where your poop lands during flight and amassed a whopping 3.9 million views.

While some may think their company is being shot out of a plane at 30,000 feet, this couldn’t be further from the truth.
TikTok pilot @flywithgarrett posted a video for his nearly 500,000 followers to answer the question, “When you’re on a plane and need to get away, where do you go?”
He continued: “Did you know that every time you flush the toilet on an airplane, it doesn’t get emptied into the population below?
“It goes through pipelines to the tail of the plane and to the seal chambers where the ground crew at the destination removes all this debris.”
The pilot added that on a long-haul flight, toilets can be flushed more than a thousand times — creating over 320 gallons of waste.
The unveiling of the flyer caused a stir among users as its clip garnered almost 4 million views.
One candid viewer conceded: “Ever since I was a kid I always thought if the pilot flushed it out over a sea. Omg.”
Another added: “Thanks for clearing that up. Hopefully we can drop the matter now.”
“I thought they threw it in the sea,” said a third.
However, many couldn’t believe that some flyers thought their business would fly off the plane after every flush.
One commented: “Wait guys do you really think it’s dumped downstairs?”
Another added: “Actually people who think it would be pushed off the plane to reach the population below? And if so, do these people vote?”
“It still baffles me that people think it would just fall out of the plane,” said a third.
And another user summed up the clip’s verdict, insisting, “The ground crew deserve a raise.”
