I’m an American living in Europe – it’s 100 degrees outside and we have no AC, our ‘cave’ tips help cool the house

Europeans are used to going through the summer without air conditioning.
However, Americans living abroad are struggling with this and have tips for braving the heat.
In her VideoTikTok user Tonya Bullock (@tonyabullocks) explained: “It’s a hot day in Germany, it will be three digits.” [Farenheit] and we don’t have built-in air conditioning here.
The TikToker showed her followers how she managed to keep her home cool despite the unbearable heat.
Since her home doesn’t have central air conditioning, Tonya had to get creative.

“One of the things we do is we pull all the blinds down and make it almost like a cave in our house to keep it cool,” she said.
Tonya also filmed the setup of her portable air conditioner in her bedroom and living room.
“These are old, but they work. They have an air vent outside the window and then you also have to catch the condensation. It drips slowly, but it actually gives us relief,” she explained.
As a survival tip for next summer, Tonya recommended installing fans in your living space to help circulate cool air.
She also used her outdoor facilities to keep the inside of her home cool.
“We also use our awning and stretch it out to give us more shade and cool the house down,” Tonya told viewers.
The awning helped shade the outside area while preventing sunlight from entering and heating the home.
To counteract the 30 degree weather, Tonya revealed additional measures that she and her family are taking.
“We also try not to cook, drink lots of water, stay indoors, and eat yummy popsicles,” she told her audience.
