I’m an elegance coach and your make-up can make you look tacky in seconds… don’t even get me started on lip contouring

A STYLE expert has listed the four makeup mistakes to avoid if you want to achieve a sophisticated look this summer – and that’s not good news if you love a darker lip liner.

Makeup trends come and go — but some should definitely be avoided, according to an elegance coach known only as Level Blue.

To help those looking to improve their looks, the guru took to TikTok, where she shared some of the most common blemishes that only give you a cheesy look.

Contouring lips

According to the pro, one of the most common mistakes people make is how they handle their lips — and this is where knowing which lipstick to use is key.

The expert insisted that wearing a brown lipstick with layers of gloss over it or opting for a dark lip liner was an absolute no-no.

It might have been the hottest trend of the ’90s, but this look, she said, was “ridiculous, especially up close.”

“You can see all the makeup around the mouth.” I don’t understand the obsession with having huge lips.

“It has to be in proportion to your natural features,” she added the video.

Carved eyebrows

Level Blue also strongly advises against applying concealer under the brows when applying make-up.

Although you think it gives your brows a more groomed look, the expert insisted that not only does it look tacky, but it also ages you.

She added, “The more products you use, the less fresh and attractive you look.”

Full-surface primer

Another trend the elegance coach added to the list was applying a full coverage foundation, as is often recommended by beauty gurus on social media.

“It never looks good in person.” These makeup tutorials could trick you with special lights and filters.

“But in real life, you’re going to look insecure in your own skin — which is bad looks for anyone.”

eyelash extensions

Level Blue advised her fans on the platform on how to dress up and also shared her thoughts on eyelash extensions and fakes – and of course she wasn’t a fan of them.

“These massive false lashes look very cheap and unflattering.”

“I understand the desire for long, voluminous lashes—but there’s a way to make them look natural and pretty.”

Another tip she added was to make sure the glue isn’t showing and there’s no dust or dirt stuck to your lashes.

“Your nails, your hair, your style and your outfit – everything speaks of your class and taste.”
