TikTok user @scottykilmeroficial took to social media to warn motorists about spiders that could damage your engine.

He said: “Look for spiders in your gas tank. Spiders, believe it or not, are attracted to gasoline as it mimics the smell that female spiders emit.”

“You may have a sexy looking car, but you probably didn’t know it smelled sexy to spiders.”

“Spiders can build nests that block air vents and the engine light can come on.

“So if you’re worried, you can spray Raid (some kind of repellent) all over it. The spiders don’t like this, but once they’ve built a nest in it, you can take off the green EVAP cap and blow some air through to blow out the nest at the other end.

The video went viral on social media, garnering more than 2 million views and 1,777 comments.

Viewers were shocked after seeing the video.

One said, “Learn something new every day.”

Another said: “I swear I’m learning more on this app than I was at school.”

A third remarked: “Well done Scotty. Now people will freak out when they refill the gas. But I never really knew that.”

This comes after an experienced mechanic said motorists need to know a simple used car check so they’re never scammed.
