Tommy (@tommyhuerter) shared advice with more than 100,000 TikTok followers.

He explains that for those who want a beautiful home but don’t know where to start, they just need to follow five steps.

“There are no gatekeepers here… the first step is to create a mood board or an inspiration board,” he says.

He explains that pinpointing the pieces and styles you love is crucial to the process and can be done on Instagram and Pinterest.

Next is to measure your space and create a floor plan.

“Creating a floor plan will allow you to know exactly what pieces you need, where they will go in your space, and how big they need to be,” he explains.

Experts recommend using free online resources to create your own floor plans, such as Sketch Up.

After completing the first two steps, comes the fun part – shopping.

“Put those pieces together…focus on the big pieces, things like your sofa, your rug, your chairs, these things will eat up your budget,” he advises.

Next come the walls: “You have to start thinking about what art you’re going to hang on your walls,” he says.

Last but not least is accessorizing: “This is what makes a house feel like a home, and it’s easy to do once you’ve chosen everything else.”

People commented to share their difficulties during the interior design process.

Many people get stuck at the first stage: “The floor plan step is my problem!” said one commenter.

Others thanked him for the advice: “This is so helpful, thank you so much, I love your content,” another said.
