I’m an interior designer – my go-to place for budget home decor dupes and tips for picking pieces that feel high-end

An interior designer has revealed where she shop for thrifty home decor tips.
She explains that furnishing your home with high-end pieces can quickly get expensive but offers alternatives for those on a tight budget.
Sophia (@houseofd3) shared interior design advice with over 160,000 TikTok followers.
“So you want high-end design but on a budget? I have you,” she said.
She explains that when budget-friendly at work, she knows exactly where to draw budget-friendly options from.
She said: “Expensive poles and cabinet handles are great if you can afford them, but they can be very expensive.
“Typically, if we’re running out of budget by the end of a project, this is one area where I’d look for a scammer.”
Instead of spending $20 or more on a pole, she picked up an alternative from Amazon and found a good swap.
“There are two things I look for when shopping on Amazon, first and foremost when it comes to columns, you want to make sure there’s a substantial amount of weight,” she said.
“Anything with weight in your hand immediately feels more luxurious, and it also increases durability.”
Despite looking for a dupe, the interior designer explains that she still won’t belittle quality.
The second thing she looks for in a dupe is the quality of the finish.
“Without painting and tampering with brass or chromium, we wanted to make sure it was a metal finish and appreciated,” she says.
Everyone thanks her advice and keeps it in mind for their own renovations.
“Never thought of looking at the weight! So good,” one person commented.
