The defiant holidaymaker shrugged off the controversy surrounding the war over sunbeds at sunshine resorts, insisting he’s just making sure his family has a good time together.

And now he’s shared his top tips for securing the best spots with The Sun Online.

He said: “My first top tip is to get the beach chairs around 7:30 in the morning.”

“Probably by that time the lifeguards would have cleaned the floor and provided all the chairs for the day.”

Johnny pointed out that people are usually still asleep at this time, as most all-inclusive resorts serve breakfast around 8:30am.

He added: “And on the first day, pick the beach chairs you like the most and then get them every day.”

The tanning eater also revealed a secret bed packing trick that will help you get the best tan.

He recommended choosing sun loungers that offer enough space to turn around so you can position them to face the sun throughout the day.

“So if you’re in a group of four or five, just make sure you have room to flip all five chairs and that area is yours,” he said.

But with the tanning bed wars often notoriously out of control, Johnny explained that there’s a way to claim your lounge chair and leave it untouched.

“Put down a jacket, t-shirt or book, open the book and leave it upside down, then it will show that you were just there and will come back.”

“Packing clothespins can also help keep your towels and t-shirts in place and prevent them from flying away,” he added.

Johnny also gave The Sun Online some advice for tanning bed novices who might be new to the industry.

“When you first arrive at the hotel you want to look at where the sun loungers are and where you want to sit.

“Also get an idea of where people are sitting and what kind of people they are. Are there really young families, middle aged couples and teenagers there?”

“Then you can decide if you fit in with her,” he advised.

Johnny urged travelers to really think about their positioning even if they’re on a cruise ship, since there are multiple decks to choose from.

“You have the front deck and the upper deck, that’s the quiet deck, away from all the people, all the noise if that’s what you’re looking for.”

He also recommends that beginners prepare extensively for the sprint the night before.

“If you want to get the chairs all at once, make sure you have all towels and double towels, jackets and t-shirts ready for everyone the night before.”

Johnny said that along with the physical preparation for the crazy sun lounger heist, researching hotel lounge chair rules is a must.

“Just make sure you know all the rules about what you can and can’t eat by the pool,” he said, “because sometimes you can take outside food and sometimes you can’t — so be careful.”

This comes after another proud hotel tanning bed geek revealed her clever tricks for snagging the best berths – but some say they’re selfish.
