A little girl was expected to survive after being shot dead by her brother at a house in Compton on Wednesday, Los Angeles County Sheriff’s officials said.

The shooting was reported around noon on the 1000 block of Poppy Avenue.

The child, less than a year old, sustained a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to her leg and was taken to a local hospital, authorities said.
