What HBO Shows Could Appear on Netflix?

At the time of writing this article on June 21, 2023, this message was: as reported by Deadline, is just a rumor and may not happen. The news outlet said HBO’s parent company, Warner Bros. Discovery, is in talks to allow streaming of some of its shows on Netflix. One of them is Unsure created by and with Issa Rae. No other titles have been shared yet. In this case, the comedy-drama would also continue to stream to Max at the same time.

This is a surprising move as most companies keep their biggest shows to themselves due to stiff competition. For HBO in particular, this would be the first time in nearly 10 years that the station has allowed another streaming service in the United States to stream its content, according to Deadline. The reason HBO is considering Netflix as a potential option is financial.

Since the merger of Warner Bros. and Discovery, it’s been the main motivator for some unconventional approaches, like canceling already completed projects before airing or streaming, suddenly removing titles from the service, and selling certain shows to FAST services like Tubi . I think we’ll see what HBO decides next.
