Inside little-known Scots tourist attraction voted Number 2 in the WORLD for families.

A tourist attraction in Edinburgh has been named the second best tourist attraction in the world for family fun.
tripadvisor has unveiled its top travel experiences for 2023 voted for by travelers.
The Travellers’ Choice Best of the Best Things to Do award includes a variety of categories including must-do experiences and foodie activities.
And this year’s big winner is this Chocolatarium Chocolate Tour Experience in Edinburgh, ranked second in the world for family-friendly experiences.
But that’s not the only accolade the cute attraction has received. It was also ranked number four in the World in the category Food & Culinary Experiences and fourth in the category Top UK Experiences.
The Chocolatarium Chocolate Tour Experience is a hands-on chocolate-making experience, ideal for families – little ones and chocolate lovers will love it, as you can create your very own one-of-a-kind Scottish-style chocolate bar to take home as a souvenir.

You can also sample a delicious selection of over 40 chocolates from Scottish and international chocolatiers including chilli chocolate, gin chocolate and even, believe it or not, haggis chocolate!
It’s 90 minutes in chocolate heaven as you discover the secrets behind making the best bars and learn about the different cocoa beans and where they come from.
Tripadvisor reviewer Francescab wrote: “The experience was so amazing. The entire staff was amazing and we would 100% recommend it to anyone who loves chocolate!
Lulu331 said: “We actually heard about this experience from another tourist when we visited Stonehenge! I’m so glad we did!
“We had the opportunity to create our own chocolate bar with milk or dark chocolate. So there were about 15 different options that we could add to our bar and the shapes had nine different options. I used a mold of the Scottish flag and then added Krispie pieces, marshmallow and caramel to my chocolate.
“My daughter used a mold from Nessie and was much more creative with her masterpiece. Definitely a fun way to spend part of our last day in Edinburgh!”
While Lorie L wrote: “This was one of my family’s favorite things to do in Edinburgh. We had a lot of fun making our own chocolate bars (in Scottish style moulds). I highly recommend!
Phillipa C said: “Fantastic, interesting, the guide was brilliantly brought to life, making our own take away candy bars was just fantastic.”
Edinburgh’s attraction was only surpassed by a dolphin cruise around South Carolina’s stunning Hilton Head Island in the US, with England’s popular Wizard Walk of York coming in at number 3.
In the Culinary Experiences category, a food walking tour in Reykjavik took first place, followed by a private street food tour by motorbike in Vietnam and a Khmer cooking class in Cambodia in third place, closely followed by the Chocolatarium Chocolate Tour Experience “.
Tripadvisor analyzed 12 months (May 1, 2022 – April 30, 2023) of review data from millions of travelers around the world to create the definitive guide to the very best things to do and see this year – from tours and experiences to book to visit top attractions along the way.
Kate Urquhart, General Manager Experiences at Tripadvisor, said: “These awards are a testament to the companies committed to ensuring the Tripadvisor community enjoys the most memorable trips, and we are grateful to everyone who took the time to share theirs Sharing reviews and helping fellow travelers plan their next getaway.”
