Former Indian track and field athlete Aakash Chopra was baffled by the decision of the Mumbai Indians (MI) to promote all-rounder Daniel Sams to 3rd place in their previous IPL 2022 match. with Chennai Super Kings (CSK). He suggested that Sams might have scored in the Big Bash League (BBL) but the same move would not have worked in the IPL.
Mumbai is chasing a tiny target of 98 against CSK. After Ishan Kishan died with left-armer Mukesh Choudhary, MI decided to test their batting command and sent Sams in 3rd place. The scheme failed when he was ensnared by Choudhary for a in six balls.

Previewing the match on his YouTube channel, Chopra urged Mumbai to stay away from the ‘Sams in number 3’ test, stating:
“With the possibility of going to the playoffs, Mumbai is trying different things. They even gave Tristan Stubbs a chance. But sending Daniel Sams at the age of three is something I don’t understand. My suggestion to Mumbai is don’t send him in 3rd place, this is IPL not BBL. ”
Explaining this tactic, says bowling coach Shane Bond Sportskeeda At a post-match meeting, Sams had a talent for batman but admitted that the Australian had not taken his chances so far.
