IPL 2022: “I’ve been feeling bad since his exit”

Former India player Virender Sehwag has revealed that he is saddened that CSK’s Ravindra Jadeja has been ruled out of the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL 2022) due to a rib injury.

Speaking on Cricbuzz ahead of CSK’s upcoming clash against the Gujarat Titans (GT) on Sunday, May 15, Sehwag said that he has been feeling bad since Jadeja left IPL 2022. Today’s cash-rich tournament is proving to be an amazing-mess affair for all-round amulets.

He was appointed as the team’s new captain just days before the tournament began. However, he gave up the captaincy after only 8 matches to focus on his match.

Regarding CSK’s last two games, Sehwag said that he doesn’t expect them to make many changes to the way they play the XI. He pointed out that MS Dhoni does not believe in cuts and changes and as such, it is unlikely that they will change their roster in the remaining matches.

“I’ve been feeling really bad since Ravindra Jadeja’s departure. CSK will only give a chance to new players in the remaining games if they think they can play a major role next year. But chance. that’s less because I haven’t seen MS Dhoni do it very often.”

The Chennai-based team has had a disastrous campaign this year. They are the second team to be knocked out of the playoffs and have won just four of their 12 games.

Next up, CSK will be in action on Sunday (May 15) when they lock horns on their opponents on the GT table in this edition’s 62nd game of the tournament. The afternoon showdown between the two sides is scheduled to take place at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.

“The upcoming match is the most important for both CSK and GT” – Virender Sehwag

Virender Sehwag also believes that the defending champions will not want to end up like wooden spoons. He reckons the MS Dhoni-led team will aim to salvage their pride by winning their last two encounters at IPL 2022.

Speaking on GT, he emphasized that even though they have qualified for the knockout round, they must find a way to continue to play good cricket and finish in the top two.

“The match is of the utmost importance to both sides as CSK will want to not finish last. GT has played good cricket and will want to continue that. They will want to finish in second.”

It is worth mentioning that this will be the second time the two teams have faced each other this season. GT had come out on top in the competition before, taking an outstanding three-point win in a horror film finale.
