Gujarat Titans (GT) batsman Matthew Wade reflected on his team’s incredible win over the Rajasthan Royals (RR) in Qualifying 1 last night.
Wade felt the early loss of Wriddhiman Saha’s wicket wasn’t ideal for GT, but the rest of the batters did a good job of earning the team a spot in the IPL 2022 final.
In a chat with David Miller on the Gujarat Titans official YouTube channel after the win against Rajasthan, Wade shared his views on the finish, saying:
“It’s exciting. I’m not sure how it would go after bowling. Obviously we didn’t have the best finish with the ball so we knew he was going to swing early with Boult (present in Rajasthan Royals team) .”
RR set a 189 run goal for the Gujarat Titans and reduced it to 0/1 on the second ball of their run chase. Matthew Wade pointed out that last night was not GT’s first comeback after losing early wickets.
“Losing a wicket early wasn’t ideal but we just have lads who contribute all the way. Today is a classic example of that, but it was really similar throughout the tournament,” Wade said.

During the same chat, David Miller asked Wade about his experience pitching instead of playing in his traditional position of wicket-keeper in IPL 2022.
“There’s something different out there than keeping it. It’s good to walk around,” Wade replied.
Wade and Miller played a key role in GT’s win last night. While Miller won the Man of the Match award for his undefeated 68-run knock, Wade played a 35-run counterattack knock after GT Saha lost in the first over.
GT will contest the IPL finals at their home stadium in Ahmedabad this Sunday.
