IPL 2022 Points Table, Orange Cap and Purple Cap: SRH and KKR pacers occupy four spots

The 61st match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 takes place between Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). The men led by Shreyas Iyer registered a 54-run major win at MCA Stadium in Pune on Saturday (May 14).

Playing the first card, KKR put the card up to 177-6. While staring at an average total for most of the innings, the team was fueled by a whirlwind of innings from Andre Russell. The Caribbean player scored 20 goals in the final against Washington Sundar to take his score undefeated 49 out of 28 balls.

SRH was pressured by KKR bowlers slowly going and experiencing a light play of power. A fall in the middle knocked them out of the chase with only three hitters hitting doubles. The team led by Kane Williamson took the lead 123-8.

KKR survived the knockout round with a crucial win. The two-time champion team now has 12 points from 13 games with a net run rate of 0.160. They will play the final match of the tournament against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) on Wednesday, May 18.

SRH is yet to win a contest after their five-game winning streak. They still have two games to go and can hit a maximum total of 14 points, keeping them intact for the top 4. Their net run is -0.270.

Abhishek Sharma currently has the highest number of runs among players who have yet to pass the tournament. The youngster in particular usurped Sunil Narine as the top scorer with 43 out of 28 serves. He has 374 runs under the rope in 12 games for an average of 31. The Punjab domestic team captain is 8th on the list.

Scoring three points six in a short game of 32, Aiden Markram edged past fellow South African Quinton de Kock for 10th place on the list. The former U-19 captain scored 358 runs with an impressive strike rate of 141.

Ventured back into the XI after taking a break with a minor injury, T. Natarajan conceded 43 times and took Rinku Singh’s title. The left-handed player currently has 18 goals and ranks sixth on the list despite playing only 10 games.

After three clubless games, Umran Malik returned to form with a three-stroke, running past the KKR batting unit. The speedster on the right, with a measurement of 3-33, also has 18 goals and is just below teammate Natarajan.

Occupying positions below the SRH duo, Russell and Umesh Yadav claim eighth and ninth, respectively. The Caribbean all-rounder hit 17 goals with a total of three racquets while Yadav added a single stick to his tally.
