IPL 2022: Sanjay Manjrekar on Rishabh Pant’s poor form

Former Indian smasher Sanjay Manjrekar thinks Delhi (DC) will continue to struggle in batting unless captain Rishabh Pant lifts his game and shows a more consistent level of consistency in IPL 2022.
The 24-year-old has had a disappointing campaign with the willow so far. In 11 games, he scored 281 runs averaging 31.22 and a strike rate of 152.72. He hasn’t made a name for himself in the last half-century, with a top score of 44.
With uncertainty over Prithvi Shaw’s readiness for Delhi’s clash with the Rajasthan Royals (RR) on Wednesday, there will be additional pressure on Pant to perform. Previewing the match on ESPNcricinfo, Manjrekar said of Delhi’s batting disaster:
“When Prithvi Shaw was there, Delhi had another dangerous hitter. If David Warner scores 140, Shaw scores 150. Rishabh Pant will have to record the number of runs. He will have to show consistency, or else Delhi’s batting looks really weak. Unless he contributes, DC will continue to struggle in the batting department. ”
The former cricketer thinks Australian all-rounder Mitchell Marsh has yet to find his chance in the IPL. He stated:
“Mitchel Marsh doesn’t seem to believe in IPL yet. Some overseas players need some time to settle in and feel comfortable. I feel Delhi will still support him to be nice.”
DC has had an unstable streak in IPL 2022. However, according to Manjrekar, they are still good enough to make it to the knockout stages. He stated:
“Delhi has great players and quality both in terms of speed and spin. Some players are not in form. If Prithvi Shaw returns, that will help. I think they’re going to push and push their way into the top four. ”
In the previous match, Delhi was defeated 91 times by Chennai Super Kings (CSK). Chasing a target of 209, they tied with 117. When Shaw was hospitalized, Srikar Bharat opened the round against Warner.
“He was always a gamble for the team” – Sanjay Manjrekar on the economy of DC spinner Kuldeep Yadav
While left-hander spinner Kuldeep Yadav is one of Delhi’s most influential pitchers in IPL 2022, he has also turned out to be expensive in a few games. In the last two matches, he conceded 40 and 43 runs, respectively.
Speaking of bowlers, Manjrekar thinks Kuldeep will need to work on his natural abilities as he is too slow in the air. He further elaborated:
“On his day, he gets 3-4 good delivery people but on other days the same kind of delivery goes to the edge. He is a bit slow in the air and therefore he is always a gamble for the team. (Yuzvendra) Chahal also claims to be very confusing but his economic chart is not so consistent. If Kuldeep trains in his fitness and flight and overcomes his innate weakness, he will be more economically efficient. ”
