IPL 2022: “Want Mumbai to express themselves now that they are free from the pressure”

Former Mumbai Indians (MI) left-hander Pragyan Ojha wants the five-time IPL champion to compete with absolute freedom in his encounter with SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH). MI was out of the race for the knockout round and had nothing to lose.

Ojha believes it is important for Mumbai’s openers Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan to return to form, while keeping an eye on the welfare of the Indian team. The 35-year-old also feels they don’t need to adjust their bowling style as they have been impressive in the last few games.

Speaking to Cricbuzz, here’s what Ojha has to say about Mumbai’s approach against SRH:

“I want Mumbai to show themselves that they are not under pressure about having won five titles. Players like Ishan Kishan and Rohit Sharma should find a way to get back in shape because of what this will be like. [a] simulate the match and in the end, they are the players of the Indian team so there is a little bit of emotion. But I don’t see any change in bowling because they finally found an effective combination. “

Mumbai Indians will get rid of SKSS/STD if they win tonight.

Want to see some young people get a chance to get MI: RP Singh

Former India international RP Singh believes that MI has the ability to test their bench strength against SRH with the aim of building a team for the future. A number of young players are yet to receive game time and Singh feels this is perhaps Mumbai’s best chance to see who they can retain next season. He stated:

“I would definitely like to see some young people get a chance. They have a lot to gain when it comes to making a team for the future. You can play as many practice games as you can, but an IPL game is not. completely different. So I think some young people should have a chance to show their mettle.”

The fate of several other teams is in the hands of Mumbai, including their next opponent, SRH. It will be interesting to see if they make any changes to their last two games or stick with their old combination.
