Former Indian cricketer Aakash Chopra believes young left-handed Arjun Tendulkar should be on the field when the Mumbai Indians (MI) face the Delhi Capitals (DC) tonight.
The son of legendary cricketer Sachin Tendulkar has joined MI for a while but has yet to make his IPL debut. With Mumbai now with nothing to lose, Chopra feels they have enough to witness the backhand’s ability.
Speaking in a video on his YouTube channel, here’s what Aakash Chopra had to say about the changes MI could make to their match against DC:
“Arjun Tendulkar should be on the pitch. You’ve picked him for the last 2-3 years and you’ve given almost everyone in the team a chance to play. So I think he can replace Sanjay Yadav.”
Aakash Chopra on MI’s defeat command against DC
Aakash Chopra is not a diehard Mumbai fan to send the almighty Daniel Sams in 3rd place since Suryakumar Yadav was ruled out due to injury. The 44-year-old feels young Tilak Varma should be number 3 for MI against DC.
He also wants to see people like Tristan Stubbs and Tim David fulfill higher orders so they get more deliveries to make an impact. He stated:
“They are sending Daniel Sams to take 3rd and maybe keep an eye on the future. But I feel Tilak should beat in 3rd, Stubbs in 4th and David in 5th. Don’t there’s the dove David is just the finisher. He hits the big balls as he prepares to give him a chance to face more balls.”
MI will be keen to give young players the chance to play against DC with the goal of building a team for the next season. However, Royal Challengers Bangalore wants them to play the XI as hard as they can because they can only qualify if DC loses to MI.
