In the early 2000s, then-married Irv engaged in a long-term affair with R&B singer Ashanti. Ashanti has mostly kept quiet about the couple’s torrid fling, but Irv Gotti has kept talking about it.

This week, Irv did an interview detailing the former couple’s antics on a recent episode of The Drink Champs podcast.

Irv claimed Ashanti’s career was “helped” by an affair with the married producer, Media Take Out has learned.

Irv explained, “Happy – the hit record – let me explain how that came about.”

“So we’re together… We just slept together and I’m in the shower. A n**ga gets creative afterwards [s*x]’ Irv continued.

“I think up the whole track in the shower. I get out of the shower and call mine [producer] Gap.”

He then claims that the song was created that night.
