Is it worth the Wishes and Primogems?

Genshin Impact has picked up its pace of expansion. Genshin Impact 2.7 brings with it the latest Xiao banner, which is possibly the fastest banner ever repeated. Xiao initially started out as a five-star Anemo polearm user after the addition of Ganyu, Zhongli, and Albedo. He was one of the most popular five-star additions alongside Venti and, unlike the free-spirited bard, remains undeniably one of the strongest characters in the game. Is it worth spending your primogems on? Here’s what we know about the upcoming Xiao banner.

When is the Genshin Impact End time of the Xiao banner?

Xiao runs alongside Yelan again in the first half of Genshin Impact 2.7. In this case, his banner starts on May 31st and runs for three weeks until Arataki Itto and Kuki Shinobu take the stage. Exact times are not confirmed, but Itto’s banner is expected to launch on June 21, 2022.

Note that this is Xiao’s third run after his original run in February 2021 and second run in January 2022.

What characters are on the Genshin Impact Xiao banner?

HoYoverse has yet to confirm the four stars on the 2.7 banners. Leakers, however, strongly suspect that Xiao and Yelan will walk alongside these three four star Characters:

  • Pyro Catalyst user Yanfei
  • Geo Claymore wearer Noelle
  • Hydro Catalyst user Barbara

Are you guaranteed to bring Xiao in? Genshin Impact?

Not quite. You are not guaranteed to catch Xiao even if you pull from his banner. Happily, Genshin Impact has a Mercy system. If you make 89 attempts without getting a five-star reward, you’re guaranteed a five-star item on the 90th draw. The guaranteed five-star item has a 50 percent chance of being Xiao. If that first pity five-star prize wasn’t Xiao, your next five-star prize will be. This means that you need 180 wishes at most to get Xiao.

If you participated in a previous event banner without earning a five-star character, your progress will carry over to the Xiao banner.

Is Xiao a good character in Genshin Impact?

There’s no way around it. Xiao is amazing. He’s a huge boon to whatever party he’s in and trivializes most Genshin Impact Content in the same way Venti did when the game launched. His dashing attacks deal absurd amounts of damage and are easily accessible if you activate Xiao’s Elemental Burst. Luckily, his Elemental Burst has a very fast cooldown. When testing the character, I found that it was usually available seconds after using Xiao. You will be in your Elemental Burst mode most of the time when using Xiao.

Xiao also has a naturally high critical hit rate, which ensures he hits pretty hard most of the time. Everything here is to say that Xiao is one of the best DPS in Genshin Impact even now.

When Xiao is in your party, he will also make certain things easier. Characters in the same party as Xiao consume 25 percent less stamina while climbing. If you combine it with Venti you can probably climb any wall with ease.

Should you pay for the Xiao banner? Genshin Impact?

Yes. If the Xiao swarming above wasn’t enough, the answer is yes, you should pay for the Xiao banner. However, make sure you calculate your Primogem earnings if you are a free-to-play player. There’s nothing more frustrating than having a wish or two before the pity system kicks in. Check your history to make sure you’re actually on the verge of pity before going full blast in Xiao.

Aside from Xiao, the remaining banner characters aren’t bad choices. Yanfei, Noelle and Barbara all have their strengths that stand out in a well-rehearsed team. Yanfei uses Pyro effectively in a way that even surpasses her five-star counterpart, Klee. Meanwhile, Noelle and Barbara can heal instead of elusive five-star healers like Jean and Qiqi. They are great supporting characters. They’re not particularly compatible with Xiao’s gear, but they’re good to carry in your pocket for pesky sections of Spiral Abyss.

Which banner comes in after Xiao? Genshin Impact?

Following the banner of Xiao, Arataki Itto, the leader of the Geo gang, repeats himself with Kuki Shinobu for the first time. Shinobu, the deputy leader of the Arataki gang, makes his debut in Genshin Impact 2.7 alongside two other unannounced four stars. Itto is one hell of a personality and hits hard as a geo DPS, especially on mono geo teams. He goes hard, although maybe not as hard as Xiao.

After that, it is rumored that Kaedahara Kazuha will finally break in again Genshin Impact 2.8.
