“People often think that a plant-based diet is better for you, but it really depends on the type of food that comes from,” says David Julian McClements, professor in the department of food science at the University of Massachusetts. plants that you eat. “In general, it depends on how they are designed.”

Whether or not plant-based meats are nutritionally better for you is often when things go awry. Many people draw a line between how these meat alternatives are produced and their relative health, says John Coupland, a professor of food science at Penn State.
