There they are pursued by a renegade lion whose pride was killed by poachers. This role is certainly a change from some of Elba’s more recent roles, such as the voice of Knuckles the Echidna in Sonic the Hedgehog 2 and Heimdall in Thor: Love and Thunder. Elba, of course, has more than the range for that, as some of his earlier roles have involved Stringer Bell The cable and Nelson Mandela there Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom.

Elba isn’t the only talented member of the cast; The roles of Dr. Samuel’s children, Meredith and Norah, are played by Iyana Halley and Lea Sava Jeffries. Halley has played roles including the adult version of Annie in This is us and Taylor Howard in Abbott Elementary School. Jeffries played Lola on the series Rich and will play Annabeth next year Percy Jackson and the Olympians Series. dr Samuels’ old friend Martin is played Sharlto Copley. A prolific South African actor, Copley has appeared in films, among other things Chappie, district 9and hardcore henry and also had roles in several popular TV shows including season 2 of Russian doll.

There is also plenty of talent behind the camera as the film is directed by the veteran Icelandic director Baltasar Kormákur. Kormákur has previously directed films, among other things A little trip to heaven, Everest, drifting away, contraband, and 2 pistols. Interestingly, the story is credited Jaime Primak Sullivana publicist whose move from New Jersey to Alabama was documented in the 2014 Bravo reality series Jersey Belle. This story was then turned into a screenplay Ryan Angelwho has written the screenplays for other action films such as Rampage, non stop, The commuterand Burglary. The African landscape itself also plays a major role in the film. Willpacker, the prolific Hollywood producer, is supporting the project under his Will Packer Productions banner. Packer has backed big box office hits like The ride movies, Direct from Compton, girl tripand Stomp the yard.

Universal Pictures released a trailer for animal on 25 May. The trailer begins with beautiful landscape and animal scenes Jimmy Cliff‘s cover of “I Can See Clearly Now” plays. Of course, the song ends abruptly when Elba’s Dr. Samuels and his family come across a horribly injured man who has been attacked by a lion. The music turns menacing and surreal as the party investigates a village of people mauled by the beast. The massive and fearsome lion himself is also featured and it’s easy to see why this film has an R rating. When talking to Jimmy Kimmel, Elba explained that the massive lion was CGI and loosely based on the now-extinct Barbary lion. The trailer also gives viewers a good look at the range of Elba in this film.

Is Beast playing in the cinema?

animal hit theaters on August 19. However, if you wanted to see the Man vs. Beast story on the big screen and haven’t had the chance yet, you may be too late. Luckily, you can watch the film in other ways.
