Twitter is suing to force Elon Musk to complete its $44 billion acquisition

Twitter was recently in the news about billionaire Elon Musk and his plans to back out of his April agreement to buy the company.

On Tuesday, Twitter said it was suing Musk to force him to complete the social media company’s $44 billion acquisition.

Twitter CEO Bret Taylor tweeted Tuesday that the board had filed a lawsuit in the Delaware Court of Chancery “to hold Elon Musk accountable for his contractual obligations.”
Musk claimed on Friday that Twitter didn’t provide enough information about the number of fake accounts on its service. Twitter said last month that it was providing Musk with a “fire hose” of raw data from hundreds of millions of daily tweets.

The company has stated in regulatory filings for years that it believes around 5% of the accounts on the platform are fake. Musk also alleges that Twitter breached the acquisition agreement when it fired two top executives and fired a third of its talent acquisition team.
