Isaiah Rashad Says He Identifies as ‘Sexually Fluid’

Isaiah Rashad said he identified himself as “sexually fluid” in an interview with Joe Budden, which marked the musician’s first sit-down since an alleged sextape involving him and other men was leaked.

“I would say I’m sexually fluid,” Rashad said in his interview with Budden, which was posted to the rapper/hip-hop personality’s Patreon yesterday, May 26. “I’m still learning myself. I stick my head in the books to figure out the basics, but I don’t really have full control over who I’m attracted to when I walk into a room.”

Rashad added that just because he’s dated certain people in his past doesn’t mean he will always be attracted to those people. “I’m more attracted to one personality,” he continued. “Sometimes I feel more drawn to the intellect. And sometimes you just feel attracted to someone.”

Rashad said he’s currently in a monogamous relationship, stressing just because he identifies as sexually fluent “doesn’t mean I’m going out and doing anything.” He added, “I have an agreement with myself that I can’t expect anything from myself as far as attraction goes.”

To that end, he praised his current partner, saying: “Luckily I’m with someone who has a similar understanding of themselves in that way. She makes me think of a lot of things I didn’t even understand.”

Rashad also spoke about how he has gradually come to understand and explore his sexuality over the past few years. “I’ve had a few experiences, like dating and hanging out, and honestly, I’ve tried different things — things I didn’t expect to try.”

Elsewhere in the interview, Rashad was candid about what it was like when the tape was leaked, saying, “The first few days were kind of weird for me.” He wasn’t just worried about how the tape would affect his family he was already dealing with other issues, such as his grandmother’s battle with cancer and his grandfather’s death from a stroke. (When Budden asked if he explained the tape to his two kids, Rashad quipped, “No, my kid is six male and eight. We make Roblox.”)

“I knew afterwards that I had to talk to someone or talk about it,” Rashad said, “or people would just ask me or make assumptions. And I had to know in that moment that I had to agree with that.

Rashad also said he does not currently plan to take legal action against the people who allegedly leaked the tape. “I hadn’t even thought of that, man. I was just keeping my thoughts together. It’s about time my family got together. Over all it was a blessing that my grandfather passed away a few days later and my grandmother went through what she went through, it was a concentration of the family together more than before. So, if anything, I can’t be mad at everything. You always have to see the brighter side of things.”

While Rashad hadn’t spoken directly about the tape prior to the Budden interview, he did seem to address it in one Video played before his set at Coachella Last month. The clip featured hip-hop figures, including Budden, discussing the video, before a spokesperson said: “The purpose of doing that was to embarrass him. However, it backfired. When his video leaked, his streams and everything went up. He’s in the charts now.”
