Israel’s Netanyahu taken to hospital for heart procedure, placed under sedation

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office said early Sunday that he was undergoing pacemaker surgery.

In a brief statement, Netanyahu’s office said the Israeli leader was being placed on tranquilizers. A top MP, Justice Minister Jariv Lewin, was to stand in for him.

The procedure comes a week after Netanyahu was hospitalized for what his office called dehydration.
