Italy Eurovision Song 2023: What do the lyrics to Marco Mengoni’s entry Due Vite mean?

Among those fighting for the coveted Eurovision trophy tonight (May 13) is Marco Mengoni, who is acting on behalf of Italy.

Mengoni will be a familiar face to long-time Eurovision fans, having competed in the 2013 song contest in Malmo, Sweden, where he placed seventh.

This time, Mengoni – who has since embarked on a winning career – is hoping to emulate Maneskin’s success after the Italian rock band emerged victorious in 2021.

The platinum-selling artist hopes his classic ballad ‘Due Vite’ will be his ticket to Eurovision glory.

“Due Vite” (English)

We’re the only ones in the entire universe who are awake

And I don’t really know your desert yet

Maybe it’s in a place in my heart where the sun never shines

Where sometimes I lose you, but when I want I catch you

We’re stuck in such a time, a time that’s brightening up the streets

With heaven just a step away, we are the monsters and the fairies

I should call you and tell you how I feel

But I’ve run out of excuses and I have no more defenses

We are a book on the floor in an empty house that resembles ours

Coffee with lemon for a hangover, you look like a blurry picture

We banged another night outside of a club

Thank God

If this is the last song before the moon explodes

I’ll be there to tell you that you’re wrong, that you’re wrong and that you know it

The music doesn’t reach here

And you don’t sleep

Where will you be? Where do you go when life goes overboard?

And all the running, the slapping, the mistakes you make

When something upsets you

Anyway, I know that you never sleep, sleep, sleep, sleep, sleep, sleep

Amazing what rounds two lives take

We’re the only ones in the entire universe who are awake

Screaming some anger from a rooftop

That nobody feels that way

That nobody watches films anymore

The flowers in your room

My metallic t-shirt

We are a book on the floor in an empty house that resembles ours

Lost among the people, so many words without an answer

We banged another night outside of a club

Thank God

If this is the last song before the moon explodes

I’ll be there to tell you that you’re wrong, that you’re wrong and that you know it

The music doesn’t reach here

And you don’t sleep

Where will you be? Where do you go when life goes overboard?

And all the running, the slapping, the mistakes you make

When something upsets you

Anyway, I know you’re not sleeping

Turn off the lights, even if you don’t feel like it

Let’s stay in the dark, only enveloped by the sound of the voice

Beyond the madness that dances in everything

Two lives, look at the mess

If this is the last song (song and then the moon will explode).

I’ll be there to tell you that you’re wrong, that you’re wrong and that you know it

The music doesn’t reach here

Anyway, I know that you never sleep, sleep, sleep, sleep, sleep, sleep

Amazing what rounds two lives take

two lives

“Due Vite” (Italian)

Siamo i soli svegli throughout the universe

I didn’t know your desert was good

In a post I trust, Forse is the only person who is always given out

Siamo fermi at a pace meant to tread the path

With the sky to the point where I’m approaching destiny

Dovrei telefonarti, dirty le cose che sento

I’ve finally aroused suspicion and I’m no different

I found a book on the way to a house that seems like us

The lime coffee controlled the hangover, almost like a photo

I added a note for a locale

E meno male

This is the last song and the exploded moon

You don’t sleep and Dove Sarai?

Siamo i soli svegli throughout the universe

It is important that it is so

I need to see more movies

i was in your camera

La mia maglia metallica

I found a book on the way to a house that seems like us

I added a note for a locale

E meno male

This is the last song and the exploded moon

You don’t sleep and Dove Sarai?

This is the final song (Kanzone and the Exploding Moon).
