“It’s time to work” – Xavi opens up on Barcelona’s plans for the upcoming summer transfer window

Barcelona manager Xavi Hernandez has spoken about the club’s transfer plans heading into the summer transfer window. He said they needed to plan the window based on their “economic situation” and set their priorities based on that.

The following statement Blaugrana’s A goalless draw against Getafe in La Liga on May 15, says Xavi (via Barca Universal):

“We have to plan great for next season. Alemany and Jordi Cruyff know what I believe we are missing to be competitive this season. We have to take into account the economic situation, depending on the situation. into how our situation is in that respect. There are our priorities.”

He added:

“We stopped what looked like really tough a few months ago. Now is the time to work and improve the economic situation.”

With a draw against Getafe, Barcelona are confirmed to be second in La Liga this season behind champions Real Madrid.

When Xavi took over Ronald Koeman as coach in November 2021, they were ninth. It is therefore certainly a huge achievement for the Spaniard and he will be looking to build on next season.

Barcelona will be smart in the transfer market

The Blaugrana in the past committed a crime when spending huge amounts of money on big stars but without success.

Perhaps the two biggest examples of this are Philippe Coutinho and Antoine Griezmann. Barcelona paid more than 124 million euros and 120 million euros respectively for these two players.

Both players fell short of expectations and are currently continuing to trade elsewhere.

Coutinho joined Aston Villa on loan in January and the deal is now in effect for life for 20 million euros. Meanwhile, Griezmann is currently on loan at Atletico Madrid.

Aston Villa are delighted to announce the permanent signing of Philippe Coutinho from Barcelona for an undisclosed fee!

However, Barcelona’s January signings reaped the rewards. They signed Ferran Torres (€65m), Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (free) and Adama Traore (loan).

Torres has scored seven goals and provided six assists in 25 league appearances for the club to date. Aubameyang, meanwhile, has scored 13 goals and provided one assist in 22 games and Traore has provided four assists in 16 appearances.

They have certainly helped with the club’s resurgence and the Camp Nou team hope to sign more such players in the summer.

According to the transfer expert Fabrizio RomanoBayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski, agent of Pini Zahavi, is trying to get Blaugrana to sign Pole. This could be another great signing if they pull through.
