It’s very cold where I live – I swear by the warm habits of the Chinese and my mother gave me a surprising way to stay warm

AN AUSTRALIAN has shared how she keeps warm in Melbourne’s bitter cold.
She said she swears by Chinese habits and the advice her mother gave her.
Needle (@kimmeelee) shared heating advice with her TikTok followers.
She explained that she had recently moved to Melbourne and had tried different ways to stay warm without increasing her electricity bill.
“The first one wore wool thermals under everything,” she said.
Kim recommends using a Uniqlo thermos or Macpac children’s Merino thermos.
She explains that she prefers wool insulation because she thinks they are most effective.
“I just feel like it keeps me a little bit warmer and that’s the best thing you can do when you’re wearing layers underneath your clothes,” she said.
Her next tip is something her mother left her: “It’s actually a heating pad and this thing is actually an amazing addition to staying warm,” she says.
She explained that her mother used to use a hot pack to treat her back pain, and since discovering this procedure, she has used it on herself while sitting at her desk or on the couch.
“It was like the perfect little bit of warmth,” she said.
Although this may seem obvious, Kim also shared that her favorite drink when it’s cold is hot water.
“I feel like this is a very Chinese/Asian thing to do and I can’t recommend it highly enough,” she said.
“I usually mix boiling water and room temperature water into my water bottle and drink it like that.”
Last but not least, she praises the power of fuzzy socks on her cold feet.
“I actually bought a 5-pack of these soft black socks from Amazon… they tend to shed a little but they are so warm and cozy,” she says.
People took to the comments section to share their thoughts on her advice.
One commenter agreed: “Hot water girls, I’m never as hydrated as I am in the winter.”
“Temperature by all means!!” another said.
