Jay-Z Has Not Retired From Rap: I Need A Break

Jay-Z appeared as a guest on Kevin Hart’s new Peacock show Hart to Heart.

Jay-Z confirmed that he hasn’t retired from rap.

“No, I tried [retirement]. I’m terrible at that,” he said. “I just needed a break. I was really burned out then. I released an album every year. One day I just looked up and thought, ‘I’m tired.’ I had never been on vacation in my entire life until the year 2000.”

Fans shouldn’t expect an album from Jay-Z any time soon.

“I don’t know what’s going to happen next. I’m not actively making music or making an album or have any plans to make an album, but I never want to say I’m retired. It’s a gift and who am I to turn it off? It’s open to everything. And it can have a different form or interpretation. Maybe it’s not an album, maybe it is. I have no idea, but I’ll just leave it open.”
