Jay-Z says Beyoncé’s ‘Renaissance’ deserved AOTY
Beyoncé failed to win Album of the Year with Renaissance on Sunday night, and speaking to Elliott Wilson, Jay-Z said his wife deserved the award before Harry Styles’ Harry’s House took home the award.
“Look what that did to the culture. Look how the energy of the world was moving. They play their whole album in the club. I don’t know if I’ve ever seen this. The whole whole joint – like, everything?! Every remix is great. Everyone is inspired. It inspired the world. Each remix is better than the other,” he said.
“It inspires creativity. You know how the Black Album had the Gray Album [Danger Mouse’s 2004 mashup project]? And the one with Radiohead? It was called Jaydiohead [Minty Fresh Beats’ 2009 mashup]. If it just inspires creativity, then this is an album. This has to be album of the year. It must be.”
Bey is now the most-awarded artist in Grammys history, but her fans were upset that she didn’t win the AOTY.
