It was an honor to be part of this exciting journey in search of such an extraordinary natural gem for your spectacular engagement ring,” Portugali wrote in an Instagram post following Ben and J-Lo’s engagement. “Among fancy diamonds, some of the rarest and most desirable are naturally colored green stones with saturated hues. Green color synchronises nature and tranquility and represents life, health and associates happiness and prosperity.”

Somewhere.” on her engagement ring. “That’s how he signed his emails when we started talking again,” she explained. “Like, ‘Don’t worry, I’m not going anywhere.'” Sources told TMZ that Ben and J-Lo “were in very regular email contact from early February when she flew to the Caribbean to start filming forced marriage.” At the time of their correspondence, J-Lo was still engaged to Alex Rodriguez.

“I don’t buy a lot of art, but I bought this one,” J-Lo wrote at the time. “One because I love hummingbirds and two because I love the color green. Birds are always flying around me. I’ve always had a special relationship with hummingbirds. I realized that many people say they symbolize love. Whenever it feels like, wherever I go, they follow me. What I love about this picture is how the hand is wide open and the bird is just sitting there… Not. Walk. Somewhere. It’s about trust. We must have faith that what is for us will be for us no matter what. trust and love.”
In an interview with HollywoodLife, geologist Amanda Smith explained that J-Lo’s diamond is a rare green color due to the uranium irradiation process. . “[The stone] has to be irradiated with beta or gamma waves long enough to turn the stone green, long enough to turn the stone green — the color comes from the irradiation and it’s incredibly rare,” she said. So… how does Jennifer Lopez’s new engagement to Ben Affleck compare to her old one? In November 2002, Ben proposed to J-Lo at his mother Chirstophe’s Boston home to Anne Boldt with a 6.1-carat pink diamond by Harry Winston. (Ilan Portugali, the designer of J-Lo’s new engagement ring, used to run the Harry Winston boutique in Beverly Hills, where Ben got his old ring.) “He took me back to the house he grew up in…he said over and over again, ‘You know how much I love you, you know how much I want to spend the rest of my life with you,'” she recalled in a 2002 interview with ABC News.
The pink diamond was set in 18k rose gold and had a radiant cut flanked by two trapezoidal white diamond side stones set in platinum. J-Lo’s new ring also appears to have trapezoidal diamonds and a platinum band, hinting at her past and future with Ben.
Although the origin of pink diamonds has not been confirmed, many believe the color is caused by “stress” and “strain” on the Earth’s mantle, causing a distortion in the diamond’s lattice, causing them to turn pink. Although pink diamonds are also rare, Smith confirmed that they are not as rare as green diamonds. However, the rarest diamonds are red diamonds.
During an interview with ABC News in 2002, J-Lo recalled her engagement to Ben. “We walk up to the house and I see candles on the stairs … he opens the door and there’s a quilt — a rose petal quilt — all over the house,” she said. “So many candles, vases of flowers and my song ‘I’m Glad’ was played. I was blown away, I wasn’t expecting it…he said, ‘My mom helped me with that.’ It was the best day of my life.” The song “I’m Glad” from her 2002 album That’s me…thenShe was inspired by Ben.
She continued: “It was funny because he wrote that letter – he didn’t know how long it was. He read it, read it – told me everything he wanted to tell me – at the end he said, ‘Will you marry me?’ And he had the ring out and I didn’t even want to look at it because I saw the ring was pink. It was too much to handle! That was the greatest thing.”
Former J-Lo publicist Rob Shuter revealed in an interview with Access Hollywood in 201 that J-Lo never returned the ring to Ben. “As far as I know, Jen never returned the ring,” he said. “So if things go ahead with these two, gosh, she already has the most beautiful ring I’ve ever seen… it’s absolutely stunning.
