Jim Cornette slams popular AEW tag team

Wrestling veteran Jim Cornette has unleashed another verbal attack on a beloved AEW talent. This time, it’s the current AEW Tag Team Champions Jungle Boy and Luchasaurus, aka Jurassic Express.

Jurassic Express have held the title since the January 5, 2022 edition of Dynamite, where they beat The Lucha Brothers to win the title.

Since then, they have made six successful defenses of their title against the likes of The Acclaimed, The Young Bucks and reDRagon (twice).

Despite being the champion, Cornette took down Jungle Boy and Luchasaurus, saying they were probably only the sixth most important tag team in AEW. Here’s what he had to say in the latest episode of Jim Cornette Experience.

“So Jungle Boy wants to win the bogus belt, and if he does, he’s going to defend the real one he has. Once again, let’s remind ourselves that the World Tag champions are World Tag champions. The team at AEW is the sixth highest rated team in the f**** company They’re behind FTR, they’re behind The Young Bucks, they’re behind The Hardys, they’re behind the Starks and Hobbs, they’re behind, ah , Santana and Ortiz were never a team again they just got to the beat in singles.” (from 3:05:32 to 3:06:08)

Cornette missed out on Private Party, The Dark Order, and Blackpool Combat Club, all of which are in AEW’s top five card pool standings, where Jurassic Express is currently at the top as champion.

Will the Jurassic Express get more gold this Wednesday?

Despite being a “bogus” belt in the eyes of Jim Cornette, the FTW Championship means a lot to Ricky Starks and Team Taz. The Starks will try to prove it when he defends it against Jungle Boy this Wednesday on Dynamite.

If the Starks hold onto the title successfully, he’ll win an AEW Tag Team Championship spot for himself and Powerhouse Hobbs in the game against Jurassic Express.

However, if Jungle Boy wins the title, it will be his first singles championship in AEW. He has been unsuccessful in his previous three attempts to win singles gold.

He was unsuccessful against Cody Rhodes and Darby Allin for the TNT Championship and Kenny Omega for the AEW World Championship.
