Joe Budden Questions Whether Drake Is Trying To Eliminate Rap Music
Joe Budden asked if Drake was trying to ditch the rap genre after releasing an entire album of house music.
“Do you think Drake will get us any closer to ending rap music as a whole by releasing a dance album?” Budden asked guest Vince Staples.
“Music has always been very visual. When I think of artists, visual things come to mind. Michael Jackson, it’s the moonwalk and 2Pac, it’s a lot of aesthetic things. Of course it’s the music, but we’re visual people,” Staples said.
“If you think about where music is going, it’s all Instagram, everything looks the same, moves the same, dresses the same, and speaks the same. The genre shit has to go out the window at some point. It’s too hard to separate cultures because the internet has kind of squeezed everything into the same little bubble.”
Drake fans called the album a “flop” on Twitter.
