The Sweeney Todd Star has been the face of the fragrance since 2015. While he was shut out of several projects in the wake of Heard’s allegations and his loss in the British libel case, Dior not only stood by Depp but also reportedly offered him the biggest men’s fragrance deal of all time diversity. The outlet reported that Depp has signed a three-year contract with Dior worth over $20 million.
Depp’s new Dior Sauvage campaign is the first he has starred in since the defamation trailer between him and Heard last year.
In June 2022, after six weeks of testimony and extensive media coverage, a verdict was reached in the actor’s libel trial – and the jury largely sided with Depp, ruling that Heard had accused Depp in a Washington Post op-ed in 2022 defamed in 2018. They awarded Depp $10 million in compensatory damages and $5 million in punitive damages.
Heard, 37, scored a small victory of his own. The jury ruled that statements made by Depp’s lawyer Adam Waldman were defamatory – and awarded her $2 million in damages.
Both appealed against the verdict, but resolved last December.
