Judd Apatow Rips Ex-Trump Staffer Mark Esper, His Fellow Guest on the Late Show

It is not uncommon for former members of the President’s administration to write books about their experiences. And the Trump administration is no exception. The difference here, however, is that many of the books include passages about how Trump lost control and how they did nothing to stop him.

This is the case with Mark Esper. Esper, who was Trump’s secretary of defense, appeared on Monday night’s Late Show to promote his new book. The former Trump staffer was called out by fellow guest Judd Apatow for refusing to do the right thing when given the opportunity.

The director appeared to discuss his new documentary about George Carlin. He told Stephen Colbert:

“I don’t think George Carlin will like Mark Esper. The whole idea of Carlin is that people with money manipulate the whole system. So if someone knew Trump was a fanatic, you’d think the day after he was fired was the day to go, ‘Hey, he wants to shoot all the George Floyd protesters in the foot.’ But he waited a year to write the book and make money. And I think that’s the whole point of George Carlin, which is they don’t notice you. “
