Kansas, Abortion and the Supreme Court

Abortion rights advocates won a major victory in Kansas on Tuesday, but their conclusion seems to be that it’s somehow a rebuke from the judiciary Samuel Alito and the Supreme Court. On the contrary, the vote against a constitutional amendment to overturn a Supreme Court ruling on abortion is a stirring endorsement of Judge Alito’s majority view Roe v. Calf.

“The Kansas vote was a strong response to the Supreme Court,” proclaims the Washington Post columnist David von Drehle. JohnHarris von Politico writes, “What is Alito thinking now that Kansas voters have firmly rejected a proposal to remove abortion protections from their state constitution?”
