With over 160 million records sold, West is one of the best-selling music artists in the world. He has won 24 Grammy Awards and 75 nominations, the 10th most awards of all time and tied with Jay-Z for the most Grammy Awards of any rapper.[7] His other accolades include the Billboard Artist Achievement Award, a combined record three Brit Awards for Best International Male Solo Artist, and the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award.[8] Six of West’s albums have been included in Rolling Stone’s list of the 500 Greatest Albums of All Time for 2020. He was also named one of the 100 Greatest Songwriters of All Time in the same publication.[9] He holds the shared record (with Bob Dylan) for most albums (4) and tops Pazz & Jop’s annual critics’ poll. He is also the founder and director of the creative content company Donda.
West’s outspoken views have garnered much media attention; He often caused controversy due to his behavior on social media[12] and at awards shows and public events, as well as his commentary on the music and fashion industries, US politics, race and slavery.
