Kate Mulgrew Knows What She’d Like Her Star Trek Bridge Crew to Look Like

star trek had a strong presence at New York Comic Con this weekend with cast members from Star Trek: Picard, Star Trek: Discoveryand Star Trek: Child Prodigy They shine down to share what fans can expect from the upcoming seasons of each series. During the Star Trek: Child Prodigy Part of the panel, a fan asked Kate Mulgrew about the potential of seeing her character, Captain Janeway, in live action in the future. She hinted that it would go up to Alex Kurtzmanthe architect behind this new era of star trekto make the decision, but she hoped they would go ahead with the idea while Janeway was still an ambulatory. This isn’t the first time a Janeway live-action conversation has featured Mulgrew, which is why we caught up with her during a pre-panel discussion. While Kurtzman revealed there have been discussions, Mulgrew was a little more withdrawn when the subject of Collider was brought up.

in the Star Trek: Child ProdigyMulgrew reprises her role as Star Trek: Voyager‘s Captain Janeway double, plays a hologram version of Janeway aboard the USS Protostar and Vice Admiral Janeway tracking them down protostar to uncover what happened to Captain Chakotay (Robert Beltran). The series is slated to return in October with the second half of the first season, in which Dal (Brett Grey), Gwyn (Ella Purell), Rok-Tahk (Rylee Alazraqui), Yankom Pog (Jason Mantazoukas), zero (Angus Imrie) and murf (Dee Bradley Baker) continued their misadventures on board the protostar.

When the topic of her interest in Janeway live-action was brought up during the roundtable, Mulgrew was quick to explain, “I didn’t say that. Other people have said that.” But she’s been talking about the prospect of resuming the role outside of animation since at least June, when Comicbook spoke to her about the Paramount+ series, and during Mission Star Trek in Las Vegas last month, she bragged that there had been “talks” and earlier this month she encouraged fans to do so express their interest in a live-action serieswhich led to a fan petition to get the studio’s attention.

While Mulgrew remains secretive and reluctant to fully comment on a live-action Janeway series, she shared what her ideal bridge crew would be like and it should be music to your ears star trek fans everywhere. She said:

I’ll tell you one thing: every color, every gender, [and] Every disposition will be represented on this bridge when I’m captain again. And really representative so we know their backstory so their backstories of who they are enrich what is going on on the bridge. A really deep dive into all the changes our society has made. That’s what I want. And if each of them can be a brilliant actor, I just win, don’t I?

Hopefully, with Kurtzman pointing out that there have been talks about live-action, we’re one day closer to the reality of this series. Once Star Trek: Picard As next year comes to a close, fans will likely be screaming for another of their beloved Captains to get his own solo series.
