KATY Perry’s fiancé Orlando Bloom has given a speech after rape and sexual assault allegations emerged against her ex Russell Brand.
The Hollywood actor took the stage at a star-studded New York event organized by Bill and Hillary Clinton and their daughter Chelsea.

The 46-year-old English star Bloom did not comment on the allegations against Brand, who was married to US pop star Perry from October 2010 to July 2012.
Father of two Brand, 48, denies the allegations against him a joint investigation from The Times and Channel 4’s Dispatches programme.
Other celebrities who attended the 2023 Clinton Global Initiative Annual Summit included actors Patrick Dempsey, Ashley Judd and Liev Schreiber, as well as supermodel Christy Turlington.
Bloom stressed the importance of ensuring Ukrainian schoolchildren continue to receive an education despite the ongoing war there following the Russian invasion in February last year.
Brand and Perry, 38, are said to have first met in 2009 and married in India the following year.
However, their marriage was short-lived, as Perry later revealed that Brand had ended the relationship via text message on New Year’s Eve 2011 – just minutes before she went on stage.
The moment she received the text message and burst into tears was caught on camera and featured in her 2012 documentary Katy Perry: Part Of Me.
Perry told Vogue magazine the following year how “magical” their initial romance was and said she found Brand “hysterical.”
However, she also said that he did not visit her on her tour, adding: “When I first met him he wanted someone who was his equal, and I think strong men often want someone who is his equal is.”
“But then they get equal rights and say, I can’t handle equal rights.
“He didn’t like the atmosphere where I was the boss on tour – it was really hurtful and very controlling, which was annoying.”
‘WENT ON’
She described having “a huge responsibility for the ending.”
The singer continued, “But then I found out the real truth, which I can’t necessarily reveal because I keep it locked in my safe for a rainy day.”
“I let go and thought: This is not me, this is beyond me, so I continued with it.”
It remains unclear what “truth” she was talking about.
Perry was spotted driving her Porsche in Los Angeles on Sunday after Bloom was spotted heading to the gym.
Neither has commented on the Dispatches claims.
Perry and Bloom first dated between January 2016 and February the following year, then got back together in February 2018 and got engaged 12 months later.
Perry gave birth to her first child, daughter Daisy, in August 2020.
Brand has denied allegations of rape, sexual assault and abuse made Saturday against four women, including one who was 16 at the time.
Four women alleged he assaulted them at the height of his fame between 2006 and 2013, when he hosted shows on BBC Radio 2 and Channel 4 and starred in Hollywood films.
He is accused of rape and sexual assault as well as emotional and physical abuse, which he denies.
The Metropolitan Police want to report potential victims, while the BBC and Channel 4 have launched investigations.
Scotland Yard announced yesterday that it was launching an investigation after being contacted by a woman who reported she had been sexually abused by Brand in London’s Soho district in 2003.
A former model also said that Brand had pursued her demanding sex “for what felt like a lifetime,” adding: “He’s like the Terminator. You can’t get rid of him.”
Brand posted a video to his YouTube channel on Friday evening, before any allegations were made public.
He told viewers that he “absolutely denies” the allegations and that all of his previous relationships have “always been consensual.”
Brand admitted to being “promiscuous” at the height of his fame, but denied any criminal component to his behavior.
