Keith Urban returns to Las Vegas for a new residency.
The country superstar, who completed a successful multi-year residency at Caesars Palace, will play 16 “brand new” shows at the Zappos Theater at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino, he said Monday. The title: “Keith Urban: The Las Vegas Residence.”
“This space already feels aligned with a certain energy that’s probably a little bit better for what I’m doing,” the Grammy Award-winner told People magazine. “I love the club arena kind of vibe, and I think this space already has a little bit more of that rock ‘n’ roll spirit, so I’m going to make the most of it.”
The 13-time CMA winner will pause his Speed of Now World Tour this spring and kick off shows in Las Vegas on March 3, with initial gigs running through March 18. He will take a break and then return between June 16th and July 1st.
Early ticket sales began on Tuesday and sales to the general public begin on Saturday.
The singer-songwriter, whose hits include “The Fighter,” “Blue Ain’t Your Color,” and “Somebody Like You,” became the first artist to play the Colosseum after the venue upgraded to state-of-the-art technology after Celine brought was Dion’s 16-year run. Urban started his residency in September 2019, but the COVID-19 pandemic halted parts of his subletting and touring shortly thereafter.
“I’ve been asked to do it before, but I’ve always said no because a residency to me sounded a bit like an episode of ‘Severance,’ and I was like, ‘I don’t know if I’m built for it,'” he said People. “I need rush and unpredictability, and I need a certain energy. When we finally did the residency at the end of 2019, I liked it and was transformed.”
Earlier this year, Urban added more shows to this residency after Adele announced at the last minute in January that she would be postponing her Colosseum shows. (Adele announced in June that she would resume her long-awaited residency in the 4,100-person space on November 18.)
