There’s only one thing in Keith Citylife versus his love for his wife Nicole Kidmanbut he says he gave up everything to save their marriage.
Country singer tells Sun that since marrying Kidman 16 years ago, he’s given up his rock and roll lifestyle and is more or less completely sober these days. “I still make weird mistakes, but not anything like I have done in the past – and these days I see them coming before things explode,” he explains. “Work-life balance is never really achieved, it is maintained. It can easily go out. I learned a lot about how to fix them. Ten years ago, I never fixed things until it was too late, but now I see it starting to disappear and I grasp it much better before things go awry. Urban went to rehab a few times throughout his career before making his final trip to the Betty Ford clinic in 2006, just a few months before he married Kidman.
The musician went on to say, “I guess I used to do something where I would calculate the ramifications of whatever I did and then decide if it was worth it – and most of the time I decide the problems it will cause.” He continued, “I’m going,” I know this is going to cause problems, but it’s going to be fun. At night I hate me by day, that’s right. But the next evening, I was nowhere to be seen – he was completely unstoppable. So these days I don’t do anything religiously to live healthier – I just do what I have to do so I can live the life I want. No more no less. I want to be able to play for hours on stage with ease and still feel comfortable the next day. ”
Urban also hopes that he is setting an example for their two young daughters, 13 years old Sunday and 11 years old Trust, showing them how to navigate life in the limelight, whether or not they ultimately choose to follow in their parents’ footsteps. He said, “Life is very different today. I’m trying to set a good example for the kids, but I still don’t know if I’m doing it right. I made a lot of mistakes, but you have to find the one that works for you. My message to them is to always do whatever they’re passionate about, I don’t care, as long as they work hard to achieve it.” Urban added, “Both me and Nic worked really hard. . fee twice. I worked my way through clubs in Australia to get a record deal, then moved to the US and had to start all over again. I worked in a barn that rented out lighting to other bands, but I just wanted to play. I’m not good at anything else. “
